Tejano Conjunto Festival
Enjoy music and dancing as well as food and beverages at the 36th annual Tejano Conjunto Festival. Around 30 Conjunto bands will perform at this family-friendly event, which is organized by the Guadalupe Arts Center. It will be held at Guadalupe Theater and Rosedale Park on May 24-28.
Texas Salsa Festival
Few things are spicier than an entire festival dedicated to salsa. To get in on the action, sample a wide variety of different salsas on tortilla chips and vote for your favorites in several categories. While you’re at the festival, you can listen to live Latin music, play interactive games and participate in activities for all ages. What’s more, salsa dancing demonstrations will be held,local vendors’ authentic dishes will be available for purchase and kids can enjoy cooling off ata splash pad. The festival is free to attend and will be held on May 27 from noon to 6 p.m. at Hemisfair Park in San Antonio.
Witte Museum 5K and Dino Dash
Get your exercise as well as some vitamin D as you support the Witte Museum’s 5K and Dino Dash on May 27. The 5K course starts and ends at the museum,traveling through Brackenridge Park along the way,and the 1K race for younger runners comes complete with a fun dinosaur theme! Runners will also get to see a sneak peak of the museum’s latest whale exhibit after the races.
Memorial Day Artisan Show
As you stroll along the River Walk,why not browse through handmade treasures including jewelry, pottery and fine art? Artisans will be set up along the River Walk Extension from May 26-29, so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the show and make some purchases.
San Antonio Missions
The Missions play at home over Memorial Day weekend, so why not commemorate the holiday by taking in a minor-league baseball game? For maximum sun exposure, head to the Monday game, which has a 2:05 p.m. start at Wolff Stadium. Don’t forget your sunscreen!
River City Rockfest
Rock out with over 20 bands on three stages at the River City Rockfest, which will be held outside of the AT&T Center. Popular ‘80s band Def Leppard is still going strong and will headline the event on May 27.For a prime spot in the crowd, keep in mind that gates open at noon.
